This is where headline room-size claims cause the most trouble. A purifier advertised for 60 m² may only achieve that at a low number of air changes per hour, which is not the same as keeping a busy open-plan ground floor clean. What matters most here
- CADR — how much filtered air a purifier delivers each hour — is the comparable number. Room-size claims are not, because manufacturers assume different air-change rates.
- Open-plan layouts are harder than the same floor area divided into rooms, so allow headroom rather than buying to the exact square metres.
- Two air changes per hour is a very different standard from four or five; check what the coverage figure assumes before comparing brands.
