MeacoDry Arete One 6L review
A compact air purifier and dehumidifier in one: H13 HEPA filtration, a dedicated purification mode and 6 litres a day of moisture removal for £129.99.

£129.99 direct from Meaco at time of writing
Our compact pick for homes that need cleaner air and less damp from one small appliance. Judged purely as a purifier, dedicated rivals move more air and run quieter — but nothing that size also dries the room.
- Air purifier + dehumidifier
- H13 HEPA purification
- 32 dB with night mode

Why we like it
- Two appliances in one: H13 HEPA purification plus dehumidification
- Can run in purification mode without dehumidifying
- Meaco quotes 32 dB, against a 42 dB average dehumidifier
- Dedicated night mode and a small 288 × 395 mm footprint
- Meaco quotes ultra-low running costs from 3p/kWh
Who it suits
- Single rooms, studio flats and student accommodation
- Households short of space or sockets for two machines
- Buyers who want H13 HEPA filtration without a second purchase
- Rooms up to around 25 m² on Meaco's stated figures
Room size and airflow
Meaco suits this model to smaller spaces up to around 25 m², and lists single rooms, studio flats and student accommodation. Maximum purification airflow is 65 m³/h, so treat it as a small-room purifier that also removes moisture rather than a substitute for a high-CADR machine. This is a 2-in-1 machine: its headline litres-per-day figure describes dehumidification, not air purification. Its purification airflow is the figure to compare against dedicated purifiers, and it is lower than the large dedicated units in our main Top 10.
Filtration
H13 HEPA filtration captures fine airborne particles such as dust, pollen and pet dander, and a dedicated air-purification mode lets the machine filter without running the compressor. Meaco sells an optional charcoal filter for the Arete range for odour control. It is an extra purchase and is not included as standard, so budget for it separately if odours are your main concern.
Noise and everyday use
Meaco quotes 32 dB, against what it describes as a 42 dB average dehumidifier, and includes a dedicated night mode for bedroom use. That is quiet for a dehumidifier but above the quietest dedicated bedroom purifiers, which start from 18–20 dB.
Running and ownership costs
Meaco quotes ultra-low energy consumption from 3p/kWh, based on electricity at 25.2p/kWh, and positions the 6L for preventing condensation, drying laundry quickly and preventing damp and mould. One appliance instead of two also saves a socket. The H13 filter is a periodic replacement cost and the optional charcoal filter is an additional one.
Before you buy
- Dedicated bedroom purifiers go quieter, from 18–20 dB
- 65 m³/h airflow suits small rooms, not open-plan spaces
- Charcoal filter for odours costs extra if odour control matters

Our view
We recommend the Arete One 6L where space is tight and both air quality and damp need dealing with. It is not positioned as a quieter or higher-airflow alternative to the dedicated purifiers alongside it.
Alternatives worth comparing

BEST OVERALL
Levoit Core 400S Smart Air Purifier
Choose the Core 400S if air purification is your only priority. Its much higher clean-air throughput makes it the stronger dedicated purifier, but it doesn't offer Meaco's added dehumidification.

BEST BUDGET
Coway Airmega 50
Compact, quiet and sensibly priced, the Airmega 50 is an excellent choice for bedrooms, nurseries and smaller home offices where full-size purifier performance is unnecessary.

BEST FOR BEDROOMS
Blueair Blue Max 3250i
Very quiet at its lowest setting, compact enough for a bedroom and considerably more powerful than many small-room purifiers, with smart monitoring and particle-plus-carbon filtration.
